Here's what I do with mine.........if they are in halves or even in pieces I drain them and place them on a bed of lettuce leaves. I put mayo. on them and top that with grated cheese. Then if I have any I place a cherry on top.

These are wonderful.

Pear Streusel Pie
1/2 ounces refrigerated pie crusts
4 cups peeled and sliced ripe pears (or canned pears)
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3/4 cup all-purpose flour, divided
3/4 cup sugar, divided
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine, cut up
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Fit piecrust into a 9-inch pie plate according to package directions; fold edges under, and crimp.
In a bowl, combine pear slices and next 3 ingredients; toss gently. In another bowl, combine 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, and next 3 ingredients, stirring until blended.
Drain pear slices, reserving liquid. Arrange one-third of pear slices in piecrust, and sprinkle with one-third of flour mixture. Repeat layers twice, and drizzle with reserved pear liquid. Combine remaining 1/2 cup flour and remaining 1/2 cup sugar; cut in 1/4 cup butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Stir in pecans; sprinkle over pie.

make some pear jelly or pear preserves....my mother made some over the summer and it was so good. especially with fresh homemade biscuits. yum!

You could boil them in syrup, if you want add food coloring for a nice touch and place them on icecream. Or you could use it in Panna Cotta. You could put the sweetende pear in cakes. Or you could buy pund cake, slice it in half to make 2 layers, put jelly in the middle, then put jelly on top. then place the pears. decorate w/ cream... hehe..:)

My Grandmothers Gunk Salad - Some people call this ambrosia salad but it's not like any other ambrosia salad I've been served. It's much better!!!

1 can of pears, drained & diced
1 can of pineapple slices, drained & cut in chunks
1 bag of mini marshmallows or large marshmallows cut small
1 small carton of sour cream (NO not Cool Whip!!!)

Drain the fruit and cut up. You can save the juice for drinking. The kids in our family call this very special treat "Christmas Juice" as we always make Grandmas salad for Christmas. Mix everything together are refridgerate for several hours before eating.
