Can I artificially "raise" bread dough in the microwave?!

Question: Just wondered, 'cos the waiting around takes all the fun out of it. (btw, I have used olive oil... fingers crossed)

I would think it would dry it out to soon...as opposed to using an oven. Plus baking it in the oven makes it way fresher and tastier... can I have some ??

You can, but only on the lowest setting which would be "defrost" on most microwaves, and it would take just a long as any other warm place.

Between 70F and 100F is considered a "warm place" to rise your dough. It will rise faster at 100F than 70F. But, much hotter than 100F will kill the yeast and it won't rise at all.

You can use the microwave to help the bread dough rise, but you don't actually microwave the dough. Instead, fill a microwaveable measuring cup with one cup of water. Put the water in the microwave and heat it until it boils. Then push the cup back into the corner of the microwave, put in your bowl of bread dough, and close the door. Don't turn the microwave on or anything. The heat and moisture from the hot water will help your dough proof faster.
