Easy dessert to make with common household foods?!
Answers: i want to make an easy dessert from household foods because i don't really know any and i'm starviving?
How about a crostata? Its a basic butter pastry and you can use any filling you like. Anything from basic apple pie filling to just plain old jam.
Here is the recipe for the crust:
1 cup flour
2 tbs. sugar
1 stick of very cold butter cut into chunks
2 tbs. ice water
Combine the flour, sugar and butter until you have crumbs. Add water 1 tbsp. at a time until you can press together and form a disk of dough. Place you dough in the refrigerator for 15 min. to an hour. (as much time as you have...an hour is best)
Roll out your dough about 9-12 inches. You want the dough to be a bit thicker then your usual pie crust.
You can fill this crust up with seasoned and sliced apples (a bit of flour, sugar, cinnamon) OR you can just spread on a nice thick layer of your favorite flavor jam. I like raspberry. Leave an inch to an inch and a 1/2 border of crust and then fold the edges over your filling. Into a 400 degree oven until nice and golden.

This is the most amazing chocolate cake ever and the ingredients are pretty simple...
Cake
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup butter
2 1/4 cups light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream (yogurt could also be used in place)
1 cup boiling water
Caramel Icing
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup milk
1 cup icing sugar (confectioners')
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Melt chocolate, either on the stove or in the microwave and set aside.
Beat butter in large mixer bowl then add brown sugar and eggs, and beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
Add vanilla and melted chocolate, and beat to combine.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and add to chocolate mixture gradually, alternating with sour cream, beating after each addition.
Stir boiling water into the batter - the batter will be thin.
Pour into two 9 inch round cake pans which have been greased and floured.
Bake for 35 minutes, until cake centre springs back when touched.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans. Allow to cool completely before applying frosting.
***For the frosting***
Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
Continue to boil, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
Cool to lukewarm.
Stir in icing sugar and continue to stir until the right consistency to spread.
(There should probably be a small film wanting to form on top ideally, but no real crystalization.) Spread over cooled cake.
Here is something that is so good you can use it for company, too. This is an excellent strawberry dessert. You should only have to buy two things - strawberries and lady fingers (or pound cake) - the rest should be in your pantry.
Ingredients:
! box fresh strawberries
1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
4 tbsp sugar
1 package cream cheese (marscapone is best)
1 package lady fingers (or pound cake)
Sour cream
Method:
Wash and hull strawberries. Slice or quarter them.
Mix together 2 tbsps sugar with vinegar. Pour this mixture over the berries and let them macerate for at least a half an hour. Meanwhile, line a cake pan (preferably a spring form) with half of the lady fingers.
Make sure the cream cheese is softened. If you are using marsapone it should already be pretty soft. Mix about a teaspoon of sugar into the cheese, if it's too thick, add a little milk. It should be a spreadable consistancy.
Put a layer of berries on the lady fingers. Do not drain the berries, let the juices seep into the cookies. Spread with the cheese, then top with more strawberries. Reserve a few for decoration.
Add remaining sugar to sour cream and cover the strawberries. Garnish with the remaining strawberries.
Chill until ready to serve.

You can also make this into a trifle by lining a pretty glass bowl with lady fingers, and proceeding as above.
