Do you have a recipe for a syrup cake?!
Answers: I have never made one but would like to do so.
Old-fashioned syrup cake
? cup of sugar
? cup of butter or oleo
2 cups of syrup
2 eggs
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
? teaspoon of soda
? cup of buttermilk
2 teaspoons of vanilla
Mix sugar, butter and syrup together; add eggs and mix well. Add flour, salt and soda, alternating with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to one hour.

CANE SYRUP CAKE
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 tbsp. vanilla
3/4 c. cane syrup
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 lg., well beaten eggs
3 c. sifted cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. whole milk
Cream shortening, vanilla syrup and sugar well. Add eggs and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Pour mixture into two prepared 9' pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until done. Frost with your favorite Seven Minute Icing, Caramel Icing or Cream Cheese Icing. This cake is especially good when using the good cane syrups that are available in this area. sorghum syrup can be substituted.
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 cup cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 Bring 1 maple syrup almost to a boil.
2 Cream together butter, sugar and egg.
3 Combine and add milk, flour,baking powder and salt.
4 Grease and flour one 8 inches cake pan.
5 Add maple syrup; drop in chopped pecans.
6 Cover with cake batter and bake at 350 degrees for
7 20-30 minutes. Turn upside down and serve with ice-cream.
