What are some economical recipies?!
Answers: some recipies that yield a decent size product for the ingrediants used in them. just recipe names or the names of the food is enough, you can be more specific if you would like to though.
Soups
Tuna Casserole
Casseroles of any type
Rice dishes
Stir fry topping for rice.
Potatoes
Omelets
Beans, Tortillas (homemade) and Salsa
Soups, especially with potatos or rice (but probably not potatos and rice together).
But the big trick to being economical is to buy in bulk, not overeat, and not waste.
Taste of Home magazine has a section devoted to feeding a family for a low dollar amount. You can search the magazine free at your local library usually.
Personally, I raised three children on a shoe string budget.I looked at the adds and made my meals around what was on sale that week. Chicken leg quarters were then and continue to be very inexpensive when purchased in 10 pound bags. I cook them in a soup pot then debone them. I then use some of the chicken for chicken salad, maybe I'll make some chicken and dumplings ( when raising kids I use the cheap canned buttermilk biscuits as dumplings..just break off pieces into the boiling broth). I make a chicken casserole with some... it is endless and the meat cost me less than $5.
My children loved fried rice. Another inexpensive dish for a crowd.
I learned many tricks from a neighbor lady who cooked for a school system during the war. She told me to add macaroni to my chili to make more. My kids still want it that way and they are grown.
