The weather has turned cold and rainy! What is a great home made soup to make for dinner?!
Answers: This is our first really cold, dreary, yucky day this year, and it is just screaming for a nice pot of hot homemade soup and maybe some cornbread or something cozy and warm. Any ideas? Nothing fancy or complicated. I have beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, noodles, dried beans, but no appealing ideas.
Is your beef leftover? With my left over beef I throw that into a pot with enough broth to fill almost 3/4 of pot I add leftover veg and usually open a few more cans and add them also with the veg juice. I add a can of tomatoe sauce garlic, onion, basil, black pepper, ramono cheese and simmer until everything is tender and cooked through. Then add pasta and cook until pasta is done serve in bowls with cheddar cheese cubes in bottom and sprinkle with ramono cheese. If you have tortellinis or raviolis that would be good instead of pasta. If you would like to use meatballs or It sausage instead of beef that would give everything a different zip. Just use mozzarella or provolone cheese inside of bowl instead of cheddar cheese. Or if you want a soup that will go good with your corn bread try a taco style soup. Brown your meat and onion add taco seasoning add meat to pot add beef broth vegetables 1 jar of taco sauce or salsa continue to cook serve in bowl with tortilla chips and shredded cheddar cheese on top. With soups you can be creative and add what you want to come up with something different. We have soups alot in the winter time.
use ramon chicken noodles....and fried bologna....great 4 when ur cold
Lime chili tomatoe is my favorite.
chickin soup with grilled cheese sandwhich always hits the spot on a rainy day
I personally enjoy bisques very much. A good seafood bisque is always enjoyable.

I just made a bowl of homemade vegetable soup last night and it was great. My family ate the entire pot. I just get all of the different veggies we like and cook them in tomato juice with steak, or roast chunks in the pot for about an hour. You should try it!! Don't forget to add your favorite spices to it!!
You have all the major ingredients. "Now just add "love.
chicken and dumplings sounds great and I have a KILLER bean soup recipe that is so easy my 13 yr old daughter will also make it. Its nice to come home from work to a big pot of soup already done on the stove!!
Well I love this soup...this is not for the diet conscious though..stirfry in 1/4 cup of butter sliced iceberg or boston lettuce till its limp and more clear...then add a big bag of frozen peas...add alittle water so its not even but at least three cups or four of water...simmer for about 15 min..add 1T of sugar and then puree...serve with fresh baguette....It is such a pretty green color...serve with some sliced cheese and voila...bon appetit
A beef and vegetable soup makes a hearty meal on those chilly rainy days. You could also thicken it up and make a nice stew. Served with hot rolls or bread, it makes a day.
chicken soup and black Coffey.
I made this last weekend and it was great. You could probably add chicken and/or beans to it.

We just did a soup theme at my group. I'll post a few for you.
Chicken and Mushroom Soup
1/2 lb Boneless Chicken Breast, cooked
4 tb Olive Oil
2 c Chicken Stock
2 tb Sherry
1 c Fresh Mushrooms, quartered
2 tb Fresh Parsley, chopped
Thinly slice the chicken breast meat. Bring the chicken stock to a rolling boil and add the chicken and mushrooms.
When the soup starts to boil again and all of the ingredients float to the top, remove from the heat.
Add the sesame oil and sherry and taste for seasoning. Add salt and pepper if necessary.
Serve in individual soup bowls and sprinkle the parsley on top.
Serves: 2
Chunky chicken noodle with carrots, celery and whatever you have in veggies is always good.
Tortellini soup is so good and SO easy. Dice up some garlic and onion and cook in a little olive oil. Then deglaze with a little white whine and add chicken broth, a bay leaf, oregano and basil. Bring it to a boil and let simmer for as long as you want. Add one can of fire roasted tomatoes. Bring to a boil again, add one bag of frozen tortellini. Cook until the pasta is tender. Serve with shredded cheese and fresh basil on top. Goes great with garlic bread.
i use ground beef in a stew sometimes, with what ever i have around and would normally put into a stew. i cut down on the potatoes and add some barley. with the normal carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes etc. You could add juice from canned tomatoes or just some extra water and beef flavouring to make it more soupy than stewy.
i also have a really nice recipe for potato and onion soup that calls for onion, celery, carrot, garlic, butter, potatoes, chicken bouillon or stock, tarragon, parsely, milk and grated cheese for the top
if you would like this recipe - e-mail me and i would be glad to send it along
our house fav is cheesy potato soup. cook several potatos, carrots, & celery(if u like it), drain water. cut up into large pot & add 8oz can evaporated milk, can of cream of onion soup and/or can of cheese soup. add velveeta cheese(more or less for cheesiness). salt & pepper are optional. add instant mashed potatoes if too thin, or water if too thick. We like to play around & do something different each time, but it makes the yummiest creamy cheese potato soup. Serve in sour dough bread boules (found in bakery dept) for a hearty meal.
Buffalo Chicken wing Soup... It's on all recipes and its so good!
Vegetable Soup
2 cups cubed peeled potatoes
6 cups chicken broth
2 TB chicken bouillon granules
2 cups chopped left over roast
1 can tomato soup, undiluted
2 cups frozen corn, thawed
2 cups frozen sliced carrots, thawed
2 cups frozen green beans-thawed
2 cups frozen sliced okra
3 TB dried minced onion
In dutch oven, cook potatoes in bouillon. Add rest of ingredients--Cook on higher tempt (but not boil!) and then turn down to simmer for about 2 hours.
The chicken broth receipe tastes like Frischs soup---you may also use beef broth and beef granules for beefy taste, may also use cooked hamburger in place of roast--but roast is best.
