I wanna make fudge, and the recipie have calls for coco. if i use chocolate chips instead, would it matter?!
Can you wait until you can make a trip to the market? I've used cocoa for years and always keep it in the house. My brownies are made with it and they are delicious. Cocoa also makes the best chocolate frosting. Think about keeping some in your pantry. It lasts for ages ... as long as hubby doesn't use it for making hot chocolate.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Answers: Yes, it would matter. Cocoa has a powerful taste, while chocolate chips, as good as they are, only contain cocoa. Also they have other ingredients - read the label to find out what they are. Fat is usually one. You would have to cut down on the fat in the recipe, but even if that did the trick, you wouldn't have that true chocolaty taste that makes the fudge so good.

ok coco and chocolate chips are like tomatoes and onions... COMPLETELY different.
Cocao is in the powder form, if you use chocolate chips your fudge will not be firm.
Chocolate chips would make the fudge too sweet and not the right texture.
