Yes, you should definitely half the cooking time. Take it out and test it once the timer goes off. If you insert a toothpick or knife and the brownies are still not done, continue baking at 3-5 minute intervals until the toothpick or knife comes out clean.

Good luck!

It won't be half the cooking time, but it will be less. Do use a smaller pan or they'll be thin and get dry easily. Remember, brownies cool to doneness, so when you stick a toothpick in the middle, you should get a couple crumbs on it, but if you stick it in the outside, it will be clean.

maybe you should cook for 45 minutes instead of the ususal time

No! The brownies should still take close to the same amount of time to bake, but I'd check them about 15-20 minutes less than the suggested baking time. Are you using a smaller pan to compensate for less batter, or are you baking them in the same size pan as originally recommended? (If you are using the same size pan, the brownie batter will be spread out more thinly and will bake more quickly than the original recipe indicated.)

However, 1 1/2 hours seems quite long for baking brownies, as most brownie recipes bake at 350-375 degrees F. for somewhere between 25-40 minutes......are these baked at a very low temperature?

If these are not baked at a lower temperature (300-325 degrees) I'd think the 1 1/2 hour baking time may be a mistake, and check the brownies after 30 minutes.

Good luck!

Pretty much everyone has the same answer. I think using a smaller pan will suffice and checking it periodically of course.
