My apple pie is too dry...how can i salvage it?!
so i'm wondering, is there some way to moisten the filling now?
Answers: i baked an apple pie last night, using the traditional betty crocker recipe for a nine inch pie...i have never had any problems with this recipe before now, however, when it was done, the pie filling was very dry...i'm thinking this had something to do with the sort of apples i used (mutsu), since it wasn't overcooked (my crust came out perfectly).
so i'm wondering, is there some way to moisten the filling now?
that has happened to me more than once, and I know it was the kind of apple I used. what I did was, make a syrup of sugar, a dot of butter, water and small amount of cinnamon. brought to a rolling boil, and let it thicken some, then poured that into slits made in crust, and let it set for awhile. probably added about a half cup, would have never know I did anything to it.
No I don't think there is much you can do now except maybe to serve with icecream to give a moist texture with it. It probably was from the kind of apples you used though.
Not really, I would suggest warming it before serving and topping with butterscotch or ice cream. Both of these will help moisten the apples without actually adding anything. Any liquid you add will probably add moisture to your flaky crust, making it really soggy.
put custard on it.........or ice cream
I'd serve it HOT with ice cream, letting the ice cream melt all over it. That should moisten it.
Lots of ice cream and whipped cream!
I think I would take it and break it all apart make up a caramel cream sauce, pour over it. let the apple pie get cold in the fridge heat up the caramel sauce, serve with ice cream. and call it your version of apple bread pudding.
I tasted a pumpkin pie this way served cold it was delicous,
but I warmed it up and it tasted just like pumpkin pie.
sorrier about the pie.. fake it.. try vanilla ice cream...
