Is frying with canola oil just like with vegetabke oil?!


Question: in some recipes for example like fried calamari it says to use vegetable oil, i'm afraid if i fry it in canola oil it wouldn't have a good texture or taste. thank you

Yes, and it is much healthier than vegetable oil. It has very low saturated fat. I use it for frying mostly everything. Pork chops, chicken and fish.... would be perfect for your calamari!!

I don't even buy veg. oil anymore.

Yes it doesn't have the same exact taste but it is pretty much the same on some levels they are similar though.

i always thought vegetable oil was for baking and canola oil has a higher heating content so it works way better for frying and its heathy for you in some ways I have always used canoila oil to fry things

Canola OIl is lower in saturated fat and thus is healthier. It all depends on what you are going for. Canola oil works best at a high heat and give you a crispier texter. It also gives you more of a golden brown appearance. Vegetable oil does not work as well when heated at a very high temperature thus takes longer to cook and a deeper golden brown texture. You can fry anything in both though. Good Luck!!!!

For that application yes Canola is the best of the worst oils.
