Is it safe to eat butter made from sour cream?!

Question: I was going to make whipped cream today, but found that my whipping cream tasted sour, although it wasn't curdled or anything and the best before date is tomorrow. I whipped it anyway, and ended up making butter. The butter tastes fine, but is it safe to eat?

Yes! Before modern dairy practices, aka "factory farms", much butter was made from sour cream! Is it better? I think it is. A lot of people use it & yogurt, including the Amish.

yep if it says "best before"...they're talking about quality, to a certain extent ofcourse....if they say "use by" then use by that date

yeah it should be fine. i grew up with cows and goats and found that letting the cream sit out at room temp, it helps it separate and makes it easier to make the butter. so i guess that would be made from sour cream
