Any ideas on how to fix a cake a child dug his hands into? I haven't put any icing on it yet, thankfully.?!
Any creative tips on how to make this better?
Answers: I had baked a cake for my sons birthday. I set it in the fridge overnight with a wrapped cover. This morning I woke up to a ruined cake. My son had got up at who knows when in the morning and helped himself to some cake. He dig his hands into the lower corner, all the way to the middle. All I have left is icing, sprinkles, candy decor, and a big "4" candle.

I have a suggestion.
Bake 1 dozen cupcakes and patch the cake with them as best that you can, even using a knife to cut and paste with home made icing as the glue. Once done I'll bet you have a more than passing grade for all the effort that first stressed you to the limits. Good luck from a mom who can just picture the before and after. If this doesn't work for you, make some pudding and use some fruit or jello and whipped cream or cool whip and make a trifle, also delicious.
Use icing as glue to patch the hole. Once iced, it will never show. Cut that portion for you son to eat.
LOL! Sorry, but I have got one myself! Mine just turned 5 yrs last week. Anyway, it's his bday, his cake...let him have some fun!
All I can say is try to reshape it as best as possible, if it was square or rectangular --- push it into a round cake. You can always fill up the gap with cookie crumbs & pieces, then ice it as best you can.
I am not a baker, but just a mother who can relate! You need the services of Duff Goldman (ace of cakes)!
You definitely have to take some photos to show all of his future girfriends, fiancee, wife & the kids!!
Just fill in with icing and no one will know the difference. Try to serve the piece he dove into last.
Cut the part where he put his hand into into the shape of a triangle...like a real peice was taken and then ice the cake yellow with a black eye.....packman!
how about a triffle? Check it out

stuff it with icing. if it's big cut the cake, use the good part and make smaller cake if icing is on you won't even know it's messed up.
