Yummy Pound Cake

Mix together:
6 eggs
2 c. white sugar
1 1/3 c. shortening

Mix together and add to above ingredients:
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. regular milk, preferably 2% or whole

Pour into two loaf pans, that have been lightly sprayed with a non stick baking spray, like Pam.) Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 -2 hours until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool before turning out onto plate.

I prefer it plain, but you can also use a lemon glaze drizzled on it.

This was my aunt's favorite pound cake recipe. It's so good!

This recipe is so good with a cup of coffee or brewed tea, especially on a nice autumn Saturday afternoon! If you don't make it today, do try it sometime. It is delicious.

Go to your local walmart store and buy ready cake mix which all you need to add are eggs and oil. Also buy some toppings. Bake it at home. It is easy and the smell of the cake while it bakes is so heavenly.

Try this simple and delicious bread. If you have youngsters they would love squishing the bananas for you.

Banana Nut Bread

1 box yellow cake mix
1 package Jell-O Instant Banana Cream Pudding & Pie Filling
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 ripe bananas, mashed
4 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans

Mix all the ingredients well. Pour into 2 large or 3 small greased loaf pans. Bake at 350° F for 40 to 45 minutes. (For those allergic to nuts, this recipe can be made without the pecans.)

Yield: Makes 2 large or 3 small loaves

Apple Crisp Pizza

Pastry for a single crust pie
2/3 cup sugar
3 tbsps. all purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
4 medium baking apples, pealed and sliced (? inch)

TOPPING:
? cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup rolled oats
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
? cup butter/margarine, softened
?-? cup caramel topping or caramel dip

Roll the pastry out to fit a 12 inch pizza pan; fold under or flute them. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in a bowl; add apples and toss to coat. Arrange the apples in a single layer, in a circular pattern, to cover the pastry. Combine the first five topping ingredients; sprinkle over the apples. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes, until apples are tender. Remove from oven and drizzle on caramel topping.
Serve warm with ice cream.

***Brownie Dough***
1 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
***Maple Butter Sauce***
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup walnuts chopped (optional)
ice cream

Directions:

Sauce: Combine syrup and butter, cook over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Add walnuts, if desired.

Brownies: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift flour, add baking powder, baking soda and salt. Sift again. Add chopped nuts. Mix well and set aside. Melt butter. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add egg and vanilla extract. Blend well. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, mixing well. Stir in white chocolate chips.

Spread in a 9-inch square pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean or with slightly fudgy-looking crumbs. Serve with ice cream and
maple butter sauce!

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks, 1/2 pound) butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE in preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Brownies, quick and easy. One bowl and one pan.
