Tell me they aint the same now?
my sister is a teacher and on a few occasions I have gone to meet her, let me tell you, those boiled potato's are still rock hard and got black eyes in them!!
I remember Spam fritters and sago pudding............... yuck. Surely they cannot be that bad now
No i think theres been a huge improvement.Well at my sons school anyway, more healthy foods these days.
OOooooh I loved pink custard! That's about all I can remember from proper school dinners. At secondary school we had a 20 min break for lunch and us paupers (freebie lunches) were given a paper bag with a greasy pizza, a greasy donut and some other strange concoctions. I hate cheese but the good thing is that the pizza was so bad you could just pull the cheese off in one go.
Its all good now, Jamie said so.
yeah to spam fritters, that & butterscotch tart
Yea fish fingers with lumpy gravy, and yes pink custard.
We had Pink & Green custard. yuk!
The best was roast dinners, treacle tart, banana custard and syrup sponge.
The worst was translucent roast potatoes, liver and bacon, shaving foam (for pudding.. don't actually know what it was!) and semolina with rosehip syrup.
My kids new school has excellent food and loads of healthy choices but the previous one was all deep-fried chicken shapes (cheap chicken nugget type things) and potato smiley faces.... basically pre-prepared junk that you just heat in the oven or fry.
I loved all that stodge and grease, the only thing I didn't like was the gristle they put in the stew and liver. My kids school dinners are awful, it is either a sandwich or a salad which doesn't keep you going on a cold day. Also the price of school dinners for what they get is shocking. I used to love the stodgy puddings with loads of custard on. Nowadays, thanks to Jamie Oliver, they have to have yogurt.
