Can I still cook this chicken I bought?!

Question: Two weeks ago I bought some chicken. I it in the freezer to keep until I was ready to cook. This past Tuesday, a week and 2 days since I put it in the freezer, I took the chicken out and put it in the fridge to thraw out while I was at work so I could make dinner. Well, I never got around to cooking it and it's now Saturday and they are still in the fridge. Should I toss it out of safety or because they were frozen for 1 week and only in the fridge for 5 days, is it safe to stil cook with it?

According to WIKI answers, it says that thawed chicken is only good in the refrigerator for 24 hours, after that you should throw it away. It last for a week after it is cooked. If your chicken smells bad after you open it up then it is bad. Chicken has a really bad odor when it is spoiled, you will notice it right away.

As long as it hasn't gone off then you're fine. You will be able to smell it if it is off.

HONESTLY......WHEN I PULL CHICKEN OUT OF THE FREEZER, ONLY GIVE IT ABOUT A DAY OR TWO. CHICKEN IS SO TRICKY, AND REALLY NOT WORTH IT. I USED TO RUN A RESTAURANT, AND I JUST DONT WANNA CHANCE IT.

i would take a good look at it.. if it still looks/smells ok and isn't slimy or something like that.. it should be OK if you cook it and make sure its well done..

but as a rule of thumb.. if you have any doubt about eating something.. don't eat it.

If it was frozen solid, it would take it a couple or three days to completely thaw. Only way I wouldn't cook it is if it smells bad, but it should be just fine.

Chickens are cheap.....your health is not...........can the chicken

smell it if it has any smell at all pitch it
however if you cook make sure you cook thru
no pink what so ever in center
try a meat themometer in it 160 +

THROW IT AWAY!!! :) NOW GO

When in doubt... toss it out. It's not worth the time you'll spend running to and from the potty if it's bad. You don't know how old it was when you bought it... chicken is not something you can play with. Pitch it.

If it smells funny.....

I wouldn't chance it. I mean maybe it can go one or two days in the fridge after being in the freezer. I'll be scared to try it honestly.

When in doubt, throw it out. Chicken is cheap and it isn't worth getting sick over.

If you tear open the plastic that's covering it, it should stink. You need to throw it out. Five days in the fridge is a long time for (not bottled) any food to stay.

Restaurants, according to most local health departments, can keep food 7 days as long as it is stored at 41 F or below.

86 it.

Open the pack and smell it. If it smells OK and doesn't appear to be slimy then it's good to be eaten.
