It means to Refridgerate it. Hot or not, put it in the fridge, and contrary to another answer, do not cover something hot before putting it in the fridge, it will not cool down fast enough and could grow bacteria that can make you sick. When you are baking for example if you made sugar cookies and the recipe said to "let chill" you would wrap in plastic wrap and chill untill it was easy to handle usually atleast 30-60 min. Happy baking :o) and Happy Rocktober!

it means to leave it out in room temp. unless it specifically says "let chill in refridgarator"

leave in room temp til cool....then refridgerate if called for..

let cool in fridge.

If it says let chill, instead of let cool, I'd have to say it means to refrigerate. You can't chill something out of the fridge people. Look up the definition of chill.

Well if it says "let chill" referring to something that is warm, I would think it would mean leave it on the counter until it cools off. AVOID putting hot/warm things in the refrigerator. If "let chill" is referring to something that is ROOM temperature, I'd put it in the fridge, covered.

Doughs for cookies and some other baked goods are best chilled before baking, whereas some doughs for bread utilize warm water to help the yeast develop and need to rest and "chill" on the counter. Certain yeast doughs can be refrigerated for a few days. However if you are baking a bread the same day you make the dough, DO NOT refrigerate. I don't believe there are recipes which call for you to refrigerate a bread dough.

Chill Angel-should I put you in the fridge?

Hope this helps.

put in fridge

List little icicles start creating on the food.

put in the refridgerator!!!

Most of the time it means let cool at room temperature, but sometimes it will specifically ask for you to chill in refrigerator afterwards.
