Who found out that herbs were edible?!


Question: Ancient peoples, such as hunter-gatherers obviously knew herbs and plants were edible.

So I'd say some of the first people on earth found it out.

Haven't you ever heard "Do it, or die trying", somebody might have tried ground apple seed on his eggs one morning (the rest of it was good, why not?), and was probably deeply bummed that
cyanogenic glycoside has different outcome than cinnamon

What I'd like to know who discovered that boogers are salty and earwax is bitter and who discovered that some people will pay $4.00 for a cup of wheat grass juice versus dumping lawn trimmings in the juicer at home for free
