Question about stuffed pepper recipe?!

Question: This recipe...

doesn't say anything about cooking the hamburger before sticking it in the peppers and baking for about an hour. Is that right? Will the ground beef just cook in the oven?

I am guessing because of the egg you are not to cook the beef first. It is going to come out in somewhat of a meat loaf consistency. Be sure you use really good beef, like ground sirloin if you decide to use this recipe because you will not have an opportunity to drain it. If you are just going to use burger, I would keep searching.

Here is the recipe I use:

D's Best Ever Stuffed Peppers
(Its all about the Velveeta!!)
INGREDIENTS

* 4 large green peppers
* 1 chopped pepper
* 2 pound ground beef
* 1 chopped onion
* 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
* 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes with chili's
* 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
* 2 cup cooked rice
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/8 teaspoon pepper
* 1/2 lb Velveeta (I use about 1/3)

DIRECTIONS

1. Cut tops off the four peppers and remove seeds. ( I slice mine in half) Place peppers in a large saucepan and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil; cook for 3-4 minutes. Drain and immediately place in ice water; invert on paper towels.
2. In a skillet, cook beef and onion and pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Remove from the heat. Stir in diced tomatoes, 1/2 of the tomato sauce, rice, salt, garlic powder and pepper.
3. Scoop 1/3 of meat mixture in the bottom of a 13x9 pan. Fill peppers and slightly press into meat mixture in the bottom of the pan. Drizzle with remaining tomato sauce. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until peppers are tender.
4. Meanwhile, melt velvetta and add diced tomatoes and chili's. Stir until smooth. Top peppers with cheese sauce. (I like to let them sit a minute before I put the cheese on them and serve the cheese on the side)

NO, precook the hamburger and/or sausage prior to baking.

Yes it will cook in the peppers.

cook it first

Yes it will cook in the oven just like a mini meat loaf.

Yes, you stuff the pepper with the raw hamburger mixture. It will be fully cooked when done.

If you stuff the peppers with raw ground beef, it will cook in the oven, BUT all the grease will run out into the peppers while they're cooking. They are a lot less greasy if you brown the meat first!

I always brown the ground beef in a little olive oil, along with the chopped peppers and onion. Then I drain the fat off and add the Worcestershire sauce, seasonings, cooked rice and 8 ounces of the tomato sauce and heat it through. Then i remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheese. After I stuff the peppers with the beef mixture, I top them with the remaining tomato sauce and shredded cheese.
