I need lunch Ideas for work???!
Answers: I don't like frozen dinners and I am sick of sandwiches. I can't leave my work place so it has to be something I bring in any ideas??? I do have a oven, stove, microwave and fridge just not a ton of time to cook something.
I cook soups, stews, casseroles and other big meals with the intention that there will be leftovers for lunch. Anything that can be nuked turns into lunch. Leftover roast beef and gravy... turns into beef stroganoff when you add mushrooms and sour cream and pour it over noodles. Take leftover chili and pour it over Doritos or Frito's, toss on some cheese and microwave.
For times when you don't have leftovers... I always keep several of those pop-top soups in my desk... just take some tortilla chips and some bagged shredded cheese and make nachos... tomato soup & nachos are very filling and fun.
Hope this helps
I take leftovers from the previous night and nuke them.
carrots, bananas, granola bars, cookies, gatorade, water, fruits, celery, salad, juice, crackers, go to foodnetwork..com for more ideas
You could try a boiled egg, carrot or celery sticks, and some cheese and crackers.
Chicken Caesar Wrap
Shopping List:
Large Burrito-Style Flour Tortillas
Pre-washed, Ready-to-Eat
Romaine HEARTS-will save you time
Caesar Dressing
Parmesan Cheese
Pre-marinated boneless skinless chicken breasts
Croutons
Day before:
Grill chicken, cool, then store in fridge
Stack Romaine hearts, one on top of the other, and slice 1 inch strips, horizontally across the hearts. Store in a plastic container with a dry paper towel on the bottom of the container, and a damp one over the top of the lettuce-try not to let the wet paper towel touch the lettuce. Cover lightly with lid.
Day of lunch:
Take out Tortilla and place the pre-cut lettuce in the center of the tortilla, in a roughly rectangular shape.
Sprinkle Parmesan and add a few croutons.
Drizzle some dressing over the lettuce.
Add the chicken, and top with a little more dressing, salt and pepper.
Fold the empty flap of tortilla, closest to you, over the lettuce.
While holding the flap down, fold in the right side and left side of the tortilla.
Hold the tortilla by the now, folded sides, and roll forward to close.
This will store well during the day in the fridge until the lunch bell rings. This may seem like a lot of prep. work, but it will probably only take 20-30 minutes total to get this lunch together.
Hope this helps.
Baked potatoes can be cooked in the microwave. Some soups in a bag are good, just add water. Cook pasta the night before and add tomato sauce. Cheese and crackers. Add or make a meal out of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Breakfast for lunch always makes me happy at work. I usually bring some cereal, fruit, milk and juice. It fills me up and is kinda comforting when i am having a stressful day. Thats just me, it is a fun idea if you are bored of sandwhiches.
you can reheat your leftovers,,,
bring some soup and heat that in a microwave container....
I make an extra serving each time I cook dinner and package it in a microwave safe container. Then I wait 1 or 2 days and take the extra serving to work for lunch. That is, about Wednesday I have Monday's leftovers for lunch. On the days you can't or don't want to use leftovers fill in with the sandwichs, etc.
Bert
Multi meals.
When you want to make a meal based on, say mince.
Make enough for two or three meal and keep it pretty basic.
Divide it into 2 or 3 and then "scale up" each with herbs and spices you like.
eg
Chili
Curry
Pasta sauce
etc
You could make smaller servings for a lunchtime snack.
I often will make up a meal for my lunch when I plate up at dinner time.
