What to make on a cold rainy night?!
Answers: It's suppose to be cold and rainy tonight and I have the day off and would like to spend it cooking. Something different than traditional beef stew or chili. Can use crockpot or not, doesn't matter. Any suggestions?
Yep beef bourguignon is excellent, especially with mash...
baked spaghetti
...love
Baked ziti. Warm comfort food. =D
its too late to do now but you could always do a jersey bean crock another time
stew or chili
a roast! in a crock pot will go over wonderfull
put potato's in put seasoned meat in
cook 4 hours add veggies of choice
cook at least another 1
the longer the cook the better it is
turn crock pot on high for the first hour or soo!
add water if needed and check it sometimes!
make it a Mexican night something other than tacos...try enchiladas.
chocolate rice porridge. it's hot, thick and sweet. but that's not a viand, though.
Make a lamb stew or a roast with potatoes and veggies. For ideas of what to cook check out www.foodtv.com
boil potatoes with their skin on and toss a salad and for desert an apple pie with a cappucino.
meatloaf, mashed potatoes sounds good to me. quick and easy too.
no it would be better to have two pegs; one for you and other for your partner. then have some good work out.
If I had the day off I would make:
Homemade chicken or beef and noodles
Mashed potatoes
sweet corn
Homemade bread (I can smell it now)
A pie - maybe apple or cherry
Cabbage stew...
1 whole head of cabbage
3 chopped carrots
potatoes if you like, (I don't)
chicken stock
corned beef
put in crock pot, add your seasoning, to your tastes...
Hot, cheesy lasagna, or some creamy clam chowder with sourdough bread. :) Warm, comforting and filling!
Well food wasn't my first choice on what to make... but how about a real deal from scratch pizza? Like kneading the dough for 45 minutes, making your sauce from real tomatoes pizza. ...and of course you have to speak in a cheesy Italian accent.
Home Made Chicken Soup. Always appreciated. And keeps the chills away.
something spicy
Homemade chicken and noodle soup on top of mashed potatoes! Yum!
How about a nice homemade creamy potato soup, maybe with some ham and/or cheese in it. That's my favorite comfort food.
try Lasagna or a pot of spaghetti or make some type of other soup, get creative with vegetable soup or potato soup etc.
make some homemade beef or chicken noodles there always a treat. cook up some stir fry. fry some hot fried chicken, make some homemade mashed potato's.
Put some cider in the crockpot with those spice packs....let it simmer and get the house smelling good.
For a nice lazy dinner without too much clean up later....make some finger sandwiches. Turkey pinwheels, tuna salad on finger rolls and deviled eggs can be made early and popped in the fridge for when you're ready. Potato salad or cole slaw too. For dessert you can make apple turnovers. Pretty easy to make. Maybe vanilla ice cream with it. Get a bottle of wine or even champagne and have a little indoor picnic!
I love to make a pork roast in my crock pot. A little salt, pepper, butter, and worchestershire sauce. Cook all day and shred. Serve on tacos, burritos, buns, or even add BBQ sauce to it and serve as sandwiches.
Another cook thing to make is a casserole. A good one is, raw chicken cut up into bite size pieces (boneless/skinless) and place in the bottom of your casserole dish. A little salt and pepper on top of the chicken. In a bowl, mix up a can of cream of chicken soup and 1/2 cup milk. Add to the soup mix canned green beans that have been drained. Stir well and pour over the top of the chicken. In another bowl, melt one stick of butter. Add to the melted butter one whole package of stuffing mix, and stir well. Pour the stuffing mix (will look like crumbs still) over the green beans. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes to an hour.
The last thing that I suggest, is stroganoff. I love to make it on cold days and serve over noodles or mashed potatoes.
I hope you have a good day cooking!
Well I have a few suggestions about this. One is a boiled Dinner. Put beef, veggies & Cabbage all in a pot Leave the Cabbage until last when everything else is cooked tender, a pot of chili, homemade goulash, potatoe soup. All are comfort foods and go good with a nice warm loaf of bread with real butter
make some homemade tomato soup
One of my favorite warm you up and make your house smell good type recipies is as follows.
Butter
Chicken Theighs cut up into small bits.
Chopped carrots, celery, onion.
Green Peas
Chicken Base
Cream of Chicken soup
Cream of Mushroom Soup
Milk
Cheddar Cheese
Bisquick Mix.
Cook the chicken and the onion, carrots, and celery in the butter. Once it is all cooked, add the Cream of soups and one can of milk from each can. Add in the cheese and stir for a bit.. Then when its all hot, add the peas. Mix up the Bisquick for dumplings and drop it into the boiling pot, it makes one hell of a potpie type thing which is creamy and tasty and all warm and good. Enjoy.
Pumpkin Soup with milk :)
Hot Chocolate :)
