I'm making brownies and...?!

Question: I ran out of vegetable oil! Darn. Are there any alternatives you can use? I heard olive oil, but would that work instead?

If you use olive oil it'll need to be a very light one, otherwise you will taste it. Alternatively you could use sunflower oil, groundnut oil, shortning or ( best of all ) butter.

EDIT - Half butter half oil should work fine - that way you'll get both the taste of butter and the brownies will stay moist because of the oil.

i always use olive oil, in everything, i have heard that you can use applesauce instead of oil, in the same amount.
good luck

yes, 1/2 butter and 1/2 oil would work great

I always use butter instead of oil.
You can also use 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening if you don't have enough butter

also you can substitute one cup of oil with 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce plus 2 Tablespoons butter. My sister makes hers this way but I have never tried them.
