Can you freeze baklava?!
Thanks!
Answers: I want to get a head start on my holiday baking, and one of my favorites is baklava. Can I freeze it before it is cooked or after? I want to make it in the beginning of November & have it for Christmas so leaving in in a tin on the counter for a few weeks isn't an option.
Thanks!
Bake it pour the syrup over it let it cool put in the container you want or leave as is and you can Freeze it. When you need it bring it out of the freezer the day before and it will be just as good...I've done it many times! Just make sure where you put it in the freezer it doesn't get crushed, because that will crumble the fillo...
I'm not certain; never had any left over and never tried making it myself. I would think you could freeze it after it is cooked, since it is a fairly dense pastry.
The problem with baking baklava is the puff pastry. I think if you had a flash freezer it would work, but in the home freezer it may just end up soggy.
Absolutely no problem freezing it from raw and then baking it and if it is made with clarified butter and no egg wash, there is no reason as to why it cannot be frozen if it has been cooked already.
I can't picture it needing freezing..!!
there is so much honey and stuff..
Just keep it covered in plastic .
BUT there maybe information here
