Substitute flour?!

Question: i was about to make sugar cookies. a bag of betty crocker's sugar cookie mix is what was going to use....
i know...slacker...
the directions say to use flour to make the dough for cut out cookies, which is what i wanted to do with them...we're making pumpkin cut outs and decorating them...
can i use corn starch instead of flour? that's all i have...i don't want to run to the store for flour being that i have all three kids with me and a run to the store now would be useless and chaotic. it's getting close to bedtime! haha!
any other suggestions for the substitution i can use?
tips? help?
thanks.

Borrow some flour from a neighbor?

If you have BC's sugar cookie mix, what do you need the flour for? The mix should take the place of the dough for the cookie cut outs.

Maybe you could try powdered sugar. If you don't have any You can make it by putting regular (granulated) sugar in a food processor.

I wouldn't use cornstarch, it will change the consistency of the cookies. Try using a small amount of sugar to keep the dough from sticking to the surface of the counter...I'm assuming that's what you were going to use the flour for. If you were using it for another reason flour is most likely the only thing you can use.

corn meal or flour? oops! You don't have flour. I don't know. Whatever. I will be your security guard and make sure you get to the store and back on time! But remember, I can't cook. :) Can't spell either. :)

Were you going to use the whole bag? If not, add a little of the extra mix to thicken. Otherwise, cut back on the liquid called for in the mix and that should make it thick enough for your needs.
