Expired Worcestershire Sauce, help!!?!

Question: HELP! I just discovered that the Worcestershire sauce I just used in a recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds was "best if used by January 2006". The batch is already in the oven!! Are we going to get sick? Do we need to throw out the whole batch? Will it be gross?? HELP ASAP!!!

I really wouldn't worry about it. It is mostly malt vinegar which is acidic enough that it isn't going to spoil. It is probably better with age. It takes two years to make Worcestershire sauce.

Everything has an expiration date.

I would throw it out, just because it has a very distinct flavor that will be noticably off. Try them first.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Eat them and enjoy them.... and pitch that bottle and buy a new one, JIC.

your ok to use it! with the vinegar and other ingredients you can get an extra 2-3 years for sure. either way it won't make you sick! just keep it refrigerated if your unsure

No. I've got a bottle of it I've had for years and I've never gotten sick from using it. To be honest I didn't even know that it was something that expires. But I know the one I'm using is older than 2006. And it isn't kept refrigerated.

you should be just fine.. what that date is really for is to give it a due date in case a grocer has to trade it for newer bottles.. yes it has a shelf life but it is not going to make you sick.. if it would.. it would be on the bottle as a warning.. you should be just fine.. good luck
