Burning sensation in my hand after cutting green chilli?!
Answers: I had invited my friends yesterday for lunch and while cooking I had to cut quite a few green chillies. Now my I have a burning sensation on my hand. Can anybody suggest any solution for this. Thanks in advance.
You can rinse with lemon or vinegar and cool water, knead bread doughor use one of those stainless steel blocks to help remove the remainder of oils. Also when next you cook chile's remember to use gloves to prevent this happening again as you can develop a more severe reaction over time. Good Luck!
This will sound odd but you need to put your hand in dairy products. Yogurt workls the best. I burned myself with a jalepeno once and that was the only thing that helped.
Its called a chemical burn - it should not last long, I would try hand lotion to sooth.
because of the Capsasin in the peppers always wear throw away gloves
Here are some possible solutions
-Maybe soaking in milk would help your hands Either that, or a quick dip in some rubbing alcohol or vodka.
-Automotive waterless hand cleaner, vegetable oil, tomato juice.
-bleach and water solution it will neutralize capsicum ( some people have had the sting go away, others haven't)
After living in the Southwest for a long time where chili is king I have learned a few tricks. Brew a pot or really strong black tea and soak your hands in it after peeling chili or wear latex gloves. Of all the things I have tried these work the best.
If your hands don't feel better soon, go to the hospital. My mom got 2nd degree burns on her hands from cutting hot peppers. I wish you luck!
