Have you ever had a Baked Alaska?!

Question: What's it taste like? Is it hard to make?

It's a little involved but not hard to make. You just have to keep going back to the freezer to make sure the ice cream inside it is frozen solid. You need a bowl, a baked cake that you will line the bowl with, ice cream that you have melted just a little so you can shape it. You will put the cake in the bowl around the entire bowl then scoop the ice cream into the center - you can use different flavors as well. You will top with another piece of cake so the ice cream is enclosed. Then you will refreeze it until the ice cream is once again solid. Then you will cover the whole thing with meringue, freeze again, and then pop in the hot oven to make the meringue golden. Serve. I've had it in restaurants where they bring it to the table, drizzle liqueur over it and set it on fire. Don't recommend it at home - can get out of hand..... Once it's browned in the oven, bring it to the table quickly and cut. You want the oven on broil to brown the meringue quickly so the ice cream doesn't melt. It tastes like cake and ice cream surrounded by meringue (like the meringue on a lemon meringue pie).

no

is this a trick question , leading to global warming ???????????

Yes my mother use to make it when I was a child. It is cake with ice cream covered with meringue,It was sooooo good. I have not had it in 35 years.

No I haven't, But I love your Bob Ross pic. :-)

It's heavenly, but I've never looked up the recipe! (Dumb.)

That sounds yummy i have a very sweet tooth, baked Gelato Meringue with liqueur on top sounds tasty.I could eat ten of them.

I've never tasted it ...I hope its heavenly because it sounds like a lot of trouble to make ..... I made a twice fried crispy chicken dish that took 3 hours from start to finish ... (I didn't read the entire directions first) needless to say dinner was a little late

Never had, but it looks delicious when someone is making it on the Food Network.

Yes, it is great. We went on cruise and all the waiters brought one out on a tray and they lit them on fire, it was pretty cool. Hey, I like your happy little trees.
