Any ideas for making a veggie tray more "Halloween-ish" for a class of 1st graders?!

Question: I want to make my veggies seem appealing to the kiddos, especially when I'll be going up against halloween cookies and cupcakes! Thanks for your time! =D

You could put cherry tomatoes, chunks of cucumber and carrots, raw cauliflower/broccoli on a cocktail stick (make loads) and then prick them into a pumpkin with a smiley face on it?

I reckon you could also make little stick people by adjoining different cocktail sticks with vegetables and handing out little pots of dip?

Get one cocktail stick. Push a block of carrot/cheese onto it right to the middle. On one end, put a cherry tomato/grape and on the other, put a square of cucmber.

Make two different sticks with square pieces of veg on each (legs and feet?) and attach them to the cucumber side on the other stick.

There, you should have a standing vege person!

I hope my weird yet semi-wonderful plans help.

EDIT***

Oooh, also forgot to mantion to stick two sticks on either side of the cheese block as arms! Lol.

You could make little veggie wraps just like these but use the vegetable tortillas like spinach and carrot since they are colored orange and green. Thats halloween-ish.

You could die the ranch dressing green or orange to be festive for the holiday.

Also, if you have time, you may want to try to decorate a small pumpkin with vegetables (Tomatoes for the eyes, a nose made of a snap pea, a mouth made of celery) to get them a little more interested in eating the veggies.

Good luck!

You can use food coloring to make the dip look like blood (just turn it red) and you can take a couple black olives and make a small ball of cream cheese and place it in the hole of the olive to make it look like an eyeball for a garnish. Also mini carrots can look like a finger and you can carve a little nail with a veggie peeler.
