You certainly can, but why on Earth would you want to?

Keep various kinds of olive oil in stock at all times!

Seriously though, 1 tsp.? It'll be fine and Only a very discerning palette would know the difference.

Of course you can..when a recipe calls for such a small amount you can interchange the oils.. Olive oil is usually recommended for high heat cooking and/or flavor enhancement of certain dishes, but vegetable oil is pretty much tasteless you just can't overheat it, it breaks down under high heat. *it'll scorch your food*

..enjoy!

Yes. I substitute canola oil all the time when the recipe calls for olive oil, vegetable oil, etc. You may get a slightly different flavor depending on the oil, but I doubt you will taste the difference, especially if you only need a teaspoon.

Yes, it's a bit heavier but it's fine to substitute. FYI, olive oil loses it's health factors once heated and is best used in salads and other cold methods. Regardless of what recipes call for the healthiest oil to use is coconut or old fashioned lard. There is science involved but a nutritionist made me aware of the misconceptions.

I know, that was more info than you asked for but I am trying to spread the word because it is interesting.

Yes you can.
If the olive oil is in the recipe to add some extra flavor you will lose out on the flavor since vegetable oil is pretty much flavorless, but the consistency of the oil in the recipe will be the same.
