Do you cut the ties off of a roast beef?!
Answers: I am a veg and this is my first time cooking a roast beef (my fiance eats meat). Anyway.... I got home and realized there are ties on the meat? I am going to sear it and then put it in the crockpot for a long time with some Jubelale beer, cream of mushroom soup, onions, mushrooms, garlic and some seasoning. Do I cut off the ties or leave them on?
I always leave the ties on, it keeps the roast together which helps keep the juices and flavors locked in. Especially if you are going to be searing it first, it's best to keep the ties on.
Leave them on ; what you have is a piece of meat that is not one solid muscle, so the butcher ties it together . It will be moister and cook more evenly if you leave it tied up
I would keep it on it's on there to hold the meat together, when you sear it.
Kudos to you for being willing to cook him meat despite your being a Vegetarian. Many would refuse.
Also, that sounds like a pretty good recipe, I may have to try it.
Leave the ties on. They keep the meat together. Remove them just before serving.
You need the ties if you are going to roast it in the oven. NOT if you are going to cook it in the crock pot. Especially "for a long time". It is going to fall apart anyway and it is easier to take off the string before than to deal with the mess after it is cooked and covered with your sauce and HOT.

Usually the ties are used on a "Prime Rib", bones cut off and re-tied to roast on the bone. If this is so it would be a Crime to cook it in a slow cooker It should be roasted rare served with salad and Yorkshire Pudding. Prime rib costs about 10-14$ lb Leave the ties on remove when cooked properly.
Leave the strings on..it keeps it nice and tidy while cooking
