Answers: Shepards pie?
This is an American variation of traditional shepherd's pie that is sure to please any meat and potatoes fan. The ground beef has a natural rich mushroom gravy and the potatoes are loaded with cheese.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 pound ground chuck beef
* 8 ounces mushrooms, chopped
* 1/2 cup chopped onion
* 2 large cloves garlic, pressed or finely minced
* 1 teaspoon kosher salt
* Freshly ground pepper to taste
* 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 Tablespoon flour
* 1/2 cup beef broth
* 1/2 cup heavy cream
* 1/2 cup frozen peas, unthawed
* 2 cups shredded hash brown potatoes (frozen or deli-packed), packed
* 1/8 cup chopped chives (or finely sliced green onions with tops)
* 2 cups finely-shredded cheddar cheese or cheese blend, divided use
* 1 teaspoon kosher salt
* 1/4 cup mayonnaise
* Sweet Hungarian paprika
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Place ground beef, mushrooms, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper in a large heavy skillet.
Fry a chopped onion, add 1 pound minced (ground) lamb or, even better, mutton, fry until brown, stir in a spoonful of cornflour, add some chopped garlic, add a tin (420g or 15 oz can) of baked beans (haricot, navy beans in tomato sauce) large spoonful of Worcestershire sauce, spoonful of mild curry powder (this will contain turmeric, chilli, coriander, cumin, clove, cardamom, anything that starts in C!) a handful of garden peas and some sliced carrot, stir to mix.
Meanwhile boil enough potatoes to cover the top of the stew in mashed potato made with butter.
Put the stew in an ovenproof casserole and cover with layer of mashed potato. Bake in a moderate oven until the top is browned (the top of the potato should be level with the top of the casserole so that any overflow messes up your oven not the potato.
In my opinion the longer and slower you cook it the better.

Shepherd's Pie Recipe
A traditional shepherd's pie is made with lamb, but feel free to use beef and beef gravy in this recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups cooked chopped leftover roast lamb
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
2 cups lamb gravy
salt and pepper
2 cups mashed potato, prepared with milk and seasonings as desired
salt and pepper
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon butter
PREPARATION:
Combine meat, gravy, and chopped onion; season with salt and pepper to taste. Line the bottom of a buttered baking dish with a layer of half of the seasoned mashed potatoes. Add meat mixture then cover with remaining mashed potatoes.
Or, meat and gravy can be put in the baking dish first then topped with all of the mashed potatoes. Dot mashed potato topping with butter, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika, then bake for about 30 minutes at 400°, or until potato topping is browned and the Shepherd's pie is thoroughly heated.
