No-Chocolate Cake?!

Question: I'm making a whole bunch of batches of cupcakes from a really great (vegan) chocolate cake recipe that I have. However, after a couple bacthes, I have run out of Cocoa Powder (and I'm not going to the store). I'm wondering if I could make vanilla cupcakes by replacing the 1/3 cup Cocoa Powder with 1/3 cup powdered sugar. Any input?

[I don't know why I capitalized "cocoa powder", lol]

You don't have to replace it with anything and powdered sugar will make the cupcakes too sweet. Just make the cupcakes as you were, just without the cocoa powder. They will be great.

Revision: The more I thought about not adding anything, the more I didn't think it was right. I asked another friend of mine that bakes a lot, like I do, and she thought maybe a couple more tablespoons of flour would help.

if you have vanilla flavoring that would work.
