Why are shoo fly pies called that? There are no flys in it?!

Question: Why do they call grasshopper pie that when there are no grasshoppers in it? Seriously though, according to wikipedia.com, "The term first appeared in print in 1926. The name is commonly thought to arise from the fact that the molasses in the pie is so attractive to flies that they have to be constantly "shooed" away. "

I think it comes from the pies being so sweet, they had to shoo the flies away from them.

There are no flies in it because you have to Shoo them all away. :-)

I read once that they were originally made to put away from the other food at a picnic so the flies would be attracted to the pies and leave the rest of the food alone
