Making pancakes...?!

Question: I'm a bloke, I've never made pancakes before.. but I have eggs, milk, flour, honey and oil.. and some baking powder, so I guess I can give it a try today.

Brit recipes don't contain baking powder, but American ones do.

Should I add it or not?
tnx

No, don't add it. US pancakes are thick things the diameter of a CD so they need a little soda to make them lighter. UK pancakes are thin and don't need chemical puffing up.

i always use the one that only water needs to be added...

I think yes.

a teaspoon of it will make the pancakes fluffier.

baking powder will make them fluffier like cake. self rising flour has baking powder already in it.

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour, stirred or sifted before measuring
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted butter

PREPARATION:
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth. Blend in melted butter. Cook on a hot, greased griddle, using about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.

Cook until brown on one side and around edge; turn and brown the other side. Recipe for pancakes serves 4.

Serve these pancakes with butter and syrup.

BEST OF LUCK WITH IT...

Happy Girl nailed it...exactly as I do, and mine are light and fluffy...to write home about!

Why go to so much trouble? There are pancake mixes that only need water. You can add whatever fruit you desire.
They're great; and so easy to make.
