corn bread is different from the northern and the southern states. Notherners cornbread has sugar added so it's sweet. Southern cornmeal is not sweet and a little more dry, sometimes spicy. My husband is northern so we eat the sweet bread version. here it is!

2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oil or melted butter or shortening
1 1/2 cups self-rising corn meal mix
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar

heat oven 450. grease 8 or 9 inch square pan. in large bowl, mix all ingredients. pour batter into greased pan. bake for 20-25 minutes. you can also pour batter into cupcake pan instead of square pan, just fill cups 2/3 full and bake for 15-20 minutes.... enjoy!

It's very popular in the US. It's a mix of flour and corn meal, with a bit of sugar, milk, eggs, butter and baking soda. Yummy!

LOL

Oh, new zealand.. so that's why you never heard of it..

it's bread made from ground corn (maize).

It's very plain, and mainly eaten by southerners (americans from the 11 or 12 southern states). I personally don't like it. It's dry and can make you choke if you aren't careful.
No one eats it in most of the USA and it's not even available in most restaurants unless you cross the mason-dixon line.

try this quite a few ways

Corn bread is great, and you should be able to get several receipes from the internet. I love sweet corn bread and butter.

Cornbread is a non yeast bread, often looks like a cake or maybe a loaf, a type of quick bread. It's usually kind of sweet and slightly crumbly. Don't stir too much as just like muffins- yes you can make corn muffins too. Just a different shape. I've even grown, dried and ground my own garden corn to make it. All recipes.com has lots of types but I clipped a more basic recipe for you below. It's great served hot with honey and butter on top. It's a good side bread for soups and stews. KInd of old fashioned but very good if you have the right recipe( will try to find mine for you)
