Hehe you're funny hon.
Here's a recipe I managed to find: http://www.bigoven.com/163113_PickledOni...

First of all............................mmmmmmm, better you ask with your grandmaa. OK?

Try adding brown sugar in the jar also but let it sit for a while to allow the onions to absorb it.
Thats what my father in law adds.

Hope it works.lol

I make my own pickled onions and everyone loves it.

I peel 1 kg of pickled onion and soak them in water for about 1/2 hour.

Then put them in a sterile jar. Take 2 cups of brown vinegar and 1 cup of water and about 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Stir until the sugar's dissolved. Pour it over the onion and make sure that all the onion are covered. If you don't have enough liquid then make another lot using half the measurements. Lastly add some peppercorns and let it stand for a week or two.

I do the same using white vinegar and white sugar.
I hope this helps.
