Anyone got a slow cooker and what do you think to it?!

Question: Slow cookers are the best. You don't have to fry anything. Everything just gets thrown in and left for a few hours, and when you taste it, YUM!

I love it. Its great to come home and have dinner ready to go

If it's switched on when I come home, I go to the Chinese.

It's really great for making beef stews, as the meat comes out really tender.

yep, i use it every sunday, so we can eat whenever we are hungry, instead of planning dinner.

Yes. It's great. Put things in it in the morning and come home to a cooked meal at night. No fuss, not much bother. I wouldn't be without one -- as a matter of fact -- I have two.

I like it. I have beef stew cooking in it currently.

It's a god send especially as it's getting colder. There's nothing better than coming home to a hot stew in the slow cooker! You can do so much with them, there's loads of recipes on the net happy cooking

I have had one for years and years.

I think its wonderful, especially for stews etc.,

I generally prepare and bung everything in either in the evening and cook it through the night, or sometimes I just set it all off just before I go to work, and I come home to wonderful aroma of a ready cooked piping hot meal, wonderful!!!!

And they use so little electricity, I was told as low as leaving a light bulb on. Got to be good for the environment !

Personally, I do not feel secure leaving the slow cooker on when I am out of the house. Afraid of a fire. I prefer Pressure Cookers. Own 4 of them and can put a meal on the table in less than 20 minutes.

I love it, I put a whole roast in and add onions and sometimes carrots and potatoes. When I come home dinner is ready and I don't have to worry about what to make. You can put a frozen roast in and cook it on high for 6 to 8 hours and the crock pot makes it juicy and it falls apart before you take it out.

love it !you can cook alot in one, ribs,roasts,stews,chicken,veggies...the list goes on.

I have a small one, and it works just fine. I make things like soups, chili, stew and the like. The thing is, my cooker only takes about 4 hours give or take a bit since it only holds a quart and a half max, so I have it on a timer so it starts up about 4 hours before I expect to get back home.

yes i love my slow cooker!!! as a matter of fact last evening at 2 a. m. i put on a pot of venison chili to be done at lunch today!!! it was fabulous !!! i love to also make stuffed peppers in it,homemade soups or stews and BBQ ribs and a special chicken dish i make!!! good luck!

I had one years ago and used to use it all the time. I then got one last year and still haven't used it! They are good though.

Yep, and it's wonderful - perfect for making lovely winter comfort food with minimum effort (throw everything in there, leave it in there, stir a couple of times if you can be bothered, and several hours later... voila - yummy food!)

Get one, they're a fantastic invention!

Too small - I prefer to put the cooker timer on and cook in the oven.

It's the best. I use it every sunday to cook the beef. Its so useful if I am out for the day, just put everything in and its ready when I get home. It's also great if the family are over I just make a chilli or curry and let it cook all day. That way I get time to spend with everyone.

I got one and its a real life saver I can set it up before going to work add come home to a hot ready meal.

We have the biggest one you can get and it feeds the whole family ! Lovely lamb shanks and chops.

Use mine all the time especially on a Sunday we slam in the Lamb, beef, chicken,or pork then head off for around of golf
its cooked when we get home.boil a few spud,s a few veg easy peasy.

I use my slow cooker often as it's a real time saver, just remember to start it on high for a while then turn it down to the low setting as your food will not over cook and will keep in the juices as needed. Some items you will need to add later if they are ones that don't require much cooking time.

You will have to gage what you put in there. I always add a little water to make sure there is enough moisture. Splendid for Spaghetti sauce, after you cook the meat balls on the stove add them to the sauce in your crock pot, just keep setting on low!! There are many recipes on line and "how to's" that you may want to check out.

Personally I like the slow cookers that have a removable insert for easier clean up! Also Some of the bigger slow cookers come with an insulted carrying case to tote your food if need be.

ya got one love it, put a roast in set it on med throw in onion ,carrots, potatos what ever you like ,spices to taste? let cook all day or till meat is realy tender/almost any meat will work , real way to use cheap meat and have a good meal, then enjoy
you can change the amount of spices to taste, try it youll love it

go to www.cooking-easy .com get a lot of things you can do with it

I had a slow cooker a long time ago and it wasn't a top of range one and you have to have top of the range with slow cookers, or they will not do the job... I wasted money buying a cheap one... You have to have one with the controls..

Sorry to be a kill joy, BUT......

You should never leave any electrical appliance that relies on a thermostat for any length of time unattended, IE Go out all day or go to work leaving it running..... OK so if your about the house maybe doing other jobs or even sitting outside in the sun..... but you should always be close by and check it on a regular basis......
Thermostatic controlled items can and do FAIL.....causing over heating and when you come home one day you may find you no longer have a kitchen in one piece.....

I , myself almost lost my home to a kitchen fire due to this.... lucky i was at home and put the fire out myself before the fire services arrived....... It cost several thousand pounds to make good the damage.... I was insured .....

Steve

PS.... Slow cookers are wonderful..... if used safely
