How long is it safe to keep mashed banana out of the fridge?!

Question: I had mashed four bananas to bake a cake with but then I realised I was out of sugar and self raising flour so I called my husband to get some. It took him about 45 minutes. Would the bananas still be okay to use?

Yes, it is probably safe, unless you know it had touched raw meat, raw poultry, raw eggs, raw seafood or their juices. Or if you had touched them with a cutting board, bowl, fork, etc. that had contacted meat, eggs, poultry, seafood or their juices.

Or if you know it got landed on by flies or other germ-spreading insects.

If your place is bug-free, or if you had it covered, AND you are sure it didn't get contaminated with any uncooked meat, poultry, eggs, seafood or the juices of those, then no worries!

For food safety, refrigerate all cut, peeled or cooked fruits & veggies within 2 hours. If it has been out of refrigeration more than 2 hrs after cutting, peeling or cooking, throw it away.

As long as they are not all brown, yucky, they should be okay-within the first hour. Take care.

I would think so....I mean the bananas usually last outside anyways don't they? I've kept unpeeled bananas for weeks and they were still edible.

they will be fine to use....just make sure they didnt turn runny and brown otherwise i probably would start over....good luck...
