We all know peanut butter, but are there other nut-based 'spreads'?!

Question: Yes, there are several other nut butters. Kettle foods makes a cashew butter, hazelnut butter and smooth and chunky almond butters--all are pretty tasty--especially the hazelnut. Other companies also make nut butters, I have seen Walnut butter and pecan butter and also coconut butter (the coconut is delicious). The last three are produced by Artisan Foods (they also make a delicious raw cashew butter).

Yes there is almond, walnut and pecan butter. There are probably even more than that at some natural food markets like Wild Oats. Almond butter is really good, but fattening and expensive!

Yes, there is almond butter as well as others. When my son was little, I use to order from an organic farm in California because he loved it and he was a picky eater. I am sure you will find a source on line.

Yes, almond and cashew spreads are two. There are others but they usually are not found in the average grocery store or chain. Try a health food store or Whole Foods if you are in the US.

hazelnut

but i am not sure what they call it.

An easy one to find is Nutella. It is hazelnut and cocoa.

Nutella is great in place of peanut butter.

I have bought cashew, hazelnut, and almond butter but I have heard that almost any nut can be turned into butter.

Almond butter is good. My favorite is Hazelnut which I believe is called Nutella and it is incredible. I had to find alternatives since PB gives me terrible heartburn.

Any nut is a butter, especially at Whole Foods...
