Any interesting sandwich filling ideas? or interesting lunch ideas?!
thanx in advance :)
Answers: i wanna make my lunches more interesting! my usual sandwich fillings - cheese, egg mayo or ham (haslet lately - more flavour.) i want to eat something more interesting - preferably something i can easily and quickly make at home, rather than shop-bought stuff. bear in mind it may need to be made the night before! and if it's sandwiches they are likely to get squished in my bag, as it's hard to fit a box in my bag along with my books! so bear that in mind as well (so no seriously messy fillings please!)
thanx in advance :)
Instead of plain bread, try pita pockets or wraps, tortillas, or pancakes=]
+Try peanut butter and banana wrapped in a pancake. oh yum.
+And pizza sauce, cheese, sausage, and pizza topping in a pita pocket and then melt the cheese. It is great cold still.
+Grilled chicken or chicken tenders, cheese, lettuce, mayo, tomatoes in a tortilla.
+BLT
+Meatball (if you can microwave it)
+Roast Beef
+Tuna Salad, Chicken Salad, Egg Salad
ham and mayo together yum

or tuna lettuce beetroot and mayo in pitta bread
you can buy in advance like , cream cheese, cottage cheese, they are in different flavours, you can also buy cooked chicken in different style , you can also buy Quorn style chicken slices , ham , and rest is histroy,
hope you like this ideas,
I know you asked for no messy ones but I had to tell you about one of my favorite sandwiches. Bread, mayo on one slice, strawberry jam on the other. On the mayo side add lettuce and then cheese (preferably cheddar), then put some salad mustard on, then add slices of summer sausage and top with the bread that has the jam on it. It can be a bit messy but is very delicious.
Peanut Butter and Banana. Yummy!
could add in some bacon...or make up your own mayo mixture and add some garlic to it with some chives....just experiment....
possibly add cabbage to your sandwich in place of lettuce...instead of ham, try some prosciutto...(its kinda expensive, but really good)...add some tomatoes, but use the roma ones as they are less "juicy" as other kinds...maybe throw some pepperoni on your snadwich...try some different cheeses...Munster is really good...
Heck why not add some fruit to it...slice up some apples and put those on there...may sound odd...but its prolly good if you pair it with like ham or bacon...
What about tortilla wraps with salad, or something like salad and chicken? You could also buy a strong plastic container and make a fruit salad.
Here are a few ideas of sandwiches:
Cheese and onion - thinly sliced cheese and grated onion.
Chinese chicken/chicken tikka etc. - you can get like packets of these in your local supermarket, and mixed with mayo and salad is lush;D
Tuna and cucumber or salad.
Or you could take:
Bread rolls,
baguettes,
soup (in a flask),
pasta salad,
vegetable salad,
or pitta bread.
Hope I helped;D
turkey ham, or smoked sliced ham, lettuce, cucumber, tomatos, and a little mayo. its healthy, tasty and fulfilling.
I like tortillas wraps. Spread cream cheese on torillas and your favorite meat (turkey, ham slices etc..), put lettuce or fresh spinach (I like spinach) roll it up and prepare your lunch. If you don't like cream cheese use cheese slices.
cheese and mango chutney, yum!!
My favorite lunch sandwich right now is a pesto chicken. Put pesto on one slice, chive and onion cream cheese on the other, a few slices of deli chicken slices, and a slice of provolone. You can do the same things with tortilla wraps. As far as the squishing, get yourself those little Gladware containers. They're cheap and reusable, and can fit one sandwich perfectly. That's what my husband uses for his lunch sandwiches. And they also work well for leftovers from the night before.
butter marmite and lettuce lush
Ooh! Haslet! Haven't had that for a while! Mmmm,
Anyway, how about halloumi cheese with a rocket salad tucked in a pitta bread?
Spicy chicken with mixed peppers?
Tuna and sweetcorn?
Salmon with cucumber?
Feta cheese /Greek salad?
Or, instead of a sandwich, make yourself a simple pasta salad; just a small amount of pasta, cooked and cooled, mixed with a little chopped ham, tomatoes, celery, spring onion, and tossed in a little mayonnaise?
simply turkey, mayo, some lettuce, a drop of relish ( if youhave it already if no then forget it, 4 slices of cheese and you re ready to go and for some extra if you'd like you can add a drop of chilli sauce it takes it a diff level..lol ..you said more interesting..
i came up with this great lunch idea. first you get a tortilla and spread sourcream and onion dip on it. then get maybe some smoked chicken or some ham from the deli and cut it up. put it all over it and roll it up. then cut it about an inch thick.
Make tortilla wraps for something different and satisfying, make these the night before and wrap tightly so they won't dry out. Then place in s asurdy tupperware container.
Spread cream cheese on a flour tortilla
Sprinkle with chopped chives and olives,
Layer some deli meat... ham, turkey, roast beef
Sprinkle with grated cheddar or Swiss.
Roll up.
For sandwiches, try the following:
1/ smoken salmon with cucumber and mayonnaise.
2/ mustard with roasted beef
3/ avocado , chicken or tuna (canned one is fine) with mayonnaise
4/ button mushrooms + deep fried pork chop (yes the whole one) + cabbage + some steak sauce and perhaps some ketchup
5/ curry chicken/ beef/ lamb with tomato, cucumber, etc.
6/ any salad, say italian squid salad, ceasar, etc.
7/ a thin layer of mashed potato blended with small pieces of fried ham, garlic, shallot and a little cream or sour cream.
You may change the bread instead of the filling:
- crispy french bread
- wheat or dark rye bread
- Italian bread
- Arabian bread
- indian bread, say naan
- anyother that you haven't thought of before but they may be tasty with filling...
You may try the followings for lunch as alternatives:
- milk and museli, corn flakes and fruits
- baked sweet potato (just wrapped it in a foil after cooked, then cool down at room tempearture), a hot coffee added with marshallows
- a girl/ boy-friend who can take care of your lunch
enjoy!

Asian Beef and Mushroom Wraps
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 lb flank or round steak cut in thin strips
1 pound fresh white mushrooms, sliced (about 6 cups)
1 16-ounce package frozen stir-fry vegetables (about 1 1/2 cups)
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
6 (8-inch) flour tortillas
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of the
oil. Add half of the beef; cook and stir until browned on both sides,
5 to 6 minutes; remove to plate and set aside. Repeat with remaining
beef. Heat remaining 1 tablespoons of oil in skillet; add mushrooms;
cook and stir until tender and all the liquid has evaporated, about 5
minutes. Add vegetables; cook, stirring frequently until vegetables
are barely cooked, about 2 minutes. Stir in hoisin sauce and reserved
beef; heat 1 minute.
Spoon an equal amount of the beef and mushroom mixture on one side of
each tortilla; roll to enclose filling. Cut rolled tortillas in
halves diagonally, serve immediately.

Turkey Ranch Wraps
4 servings
Here's a cool idea that's ready to gobble up in no time. It's a terrific use for deli turkey. Just add lettuce, tomato, green pepper, shredded cheese and ranch dressing for a flavorful blend.
8 thin slices cooked turkey (deli style)
4 7-inch flour tortillas
1 large tomato, thinly sliced
1 medium green pepper, cut into thin strips
1 c. shredded lettuce
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 c. ranch salad dressing
Place two slices of turkey on each tortilla. Layer with tomato, green pepper, lettuce and cheese. Drizzle with salad dressing. Roll up tightly and serve immediately.
I make hubby wraps a lot, as he loves them on the low carb flatbread or tortillas. They're great to take because you can roll them up tightly, and wrap just like that with foil and twist the ends to seal. Much neater to take than a traditional sandwich, they won't get smashed like bread sandwiches
Tuna, grated cheese and onion and mayo, or grated cheese and take a banana with you, put that on when you are ready to eat, don`t knock it till you`ve tried it
My favourite at the moment is hot bacon, avocado and cream cheese with black pepper and a bit of lettuce. Enjoy!
