How can I avoid freezer burn to leftovers?!

Question: Each year I put the leftover turkey in freezer bags, but when I take it out later the flavor is gone and the meat has freezer burn. What am I doing wrong or how can I prevent this from
happening again? Thanks! :)

I just bought the handy-vac an inexpensive vacuum sealing system from Reynolds and it has being working great.

I wrap the cooled stuff tightly in wax paper, then in foil, and then put in a freezer bag and squish all the air out. Seems to keep very well that way.

I use a Food Saver machine to seal my leftovers in an air-tight bag. Works wonders...

you could get one of those food savers and use it to let all the air out of the bag. or you could wrap it in heavy duty foil real good then put it in a ziploc freezer bag and let out as much air as possible, seal the bag

I'm 55 and eat stuff with freezer burn all the time. You think you
have it sealed well but it's always there. Don't worry about it.
And I'm healthy........

buy one of those foodsavers vacuum sealers like i did...one of the best small appliances that i invested in. i never have freezer burned anything anymore...it only cost me 85 bucks...though, the bags get kinda expensive. but still, it works wonders.

Ya have to get all the air out. I use a seal a meal type gizmo. One of the plastic wrap people now has a little tiny one for $10 at Wal Mart.
