Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that potatoes au gratin really goes with teriyaki. When I think of cheesy potatoes, I think heavy French food.
I say some steamed veggies, steamed baby bok choy, boiled cabbage, I could probably think of something else, but it's getting late. :)

EDIT: Sauteed snow peas or sugar snap peas! It's currently my favorite veggie dish.
Or pickled (in rice wine vinegar sugar and soy sauce) cucumbers, onions, red and yellow bell peppers! (Only pickled for a short time)
Soba noodles.
Vermicelli noodles.
Yum.
Heh. I knew I could come up with something else...

broccoli is nice with teriaki sauce

noodles, dim sum, spring roll, veggies

how about some steamed bok choi or a bed of noodles

I like to make a potato bake, just cook some thinly sliced potatoes in boiling water for 5 minutes only. Drain.
Layer them in a nice casserole or serving dish , greased.
only use a 3rd of the potato for 1st layer, then add some chopped shallots, thick cream and grated nice cheese.
Repeat with 2 more layers of same as above.
Top with cheese and bake in oven for 30 minutes on 200celsius. You can pimp this up with anything else as well.
The creaminess goes well with terriyaki.

Veggies is a best way, or some kind of potato would be good too.

A side of fresh green beans or sugar snap peas . You didnt mention what the Teriyaki is? Are you doing skewers with Chicken, onions, peppers and pineapple?

FRESH COCONUT SHRIMP

1 c. flour (more if needed)
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. finely grated fresh coconut
1 1/2 lb. jumbo shrimp, peeled & deveined
Salt
Ground black pepper
4-5 tbsp. clarified butter or olive oil
Lime wedges, optional

Place flour in shallow bowl, place eggs in another, and place coconut in third bowl. Season shrimp with salt and pepper to taste. Heat butter in frying pan over medium flame. Dip each shrimp first in flour, shaking off excess, then in egg, then in coconut.
Pan fry shrimp until firm and golden brown about 1 minute per side. Drain on paper towels. Serve with lime wedges. Apricot jam mixed with prepared horseradish, salt and lime juice makes a dipping sauce.
