What are your favorite spices in a vegetable soup - let's say a potato, onion, garlic base w/ whatever else??!

I usually use fresh herbs. Anything fresh just makes the taste of the soup that much more delish. I love bresh basil, thyme and italian flat leaf parsley. :) :)

tomatoes,potatoes, carrotts, peas,corn, and salt and pepper and garli to taste.

basil,bay leaf,paprika, pepper and rosemary
