Meatloaf without eggs or milk?!

Question: I have an amazing meatloaf recipe and it has both an egg and a little bit of milk to help bind it together. However, my nephew is deathly allergic to milk and eggs. What can I use instead of them to bind the loaf together and to make it moist so that he can eat it, too?

use a bit of tomato juice or ketchup to help bind the meatloaf.

Ive never used milk... I use ketchup not sure about meatloaf without eggs... I must say that is very sweet that you take him into consideration... I know some people who dont and it irritates me... Good luck

as Genny said, you can substitute eggs/milk with ketchup. i mix it up from time to time and will add worcestershire sauce, or a couple packs of that hot Chinese mustard, or bbq sauce or whatever your creative mind or taste buds would like.

You may be ble to increase the amount of lean protien by adding some ground veal or leaner beef to the recipe/ the water content of the milk may be important to the recipe, water/tomato juice could be a good substitution. The binding property and the emulsification the egg offers can be hard to substitute for but adding some fresh bread crumbs or even flour could work well

You can use ketchup, tomato sauce or brown gravey made with water from a package.

If he has allergies, then tomato-based sauces are probably not good.

You could also use maple syrup. Yes, sounds gross, but its not bad.

Good luck.

Add some "instant" mashed potato's. This works great in holding hamburger together. Also works for meatballs. You can add ketchup or bbq to make it moister as well and even add a tad bit of water in while mixing. Keeping it covered until just before its done and cooking slow will help also to keep it from drying.

I have never used milk in my meatloaf but I put in salsa, bbq sauce or other tomato based liquid in mine along with bread crumbs but be sure to read the ingredients list on the bread crumb package as some contain cheese.

I do not use milk or eggs in my meat loaf at all. I use sauteed peppers and onions, cracker crumbs, a squeeze of ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce, & salt and pepper.
Actually even though egg does bind it also makes a little tougher. You don't really need it.
