What does al dente mean when in a recipe for cooking macaroni?!
Answers: it mines "with a bite"... it's Italian... on the packages for pasta I usually cook it a minutes less then what the box says for al dente. That's the only way my family eats noodles... a little undercooked but who likes mooshy pasta anyways
Crisp tender. Just done. Not over cooked!
slightly undercooked
Al dente means of the tooth. The pasta should not be overcooked. When it's removed at the slightly chewey stage, it continues to cook. Otherwise, you would have a mushy mass of overcooked pasta. Just cook according to directions and you should be fine.
ALDENTE MEANS DONE BUT HAS A BIT TO IT (NOT GUMMY)
"to the bite" ~> still chewy, not really soft
cooked firm but not hard
