Whats the best recipe for making Hot biscuits?!
Answers: I'm going back to england soon and would like a recipe for making southern style hot biscuits, thanks.
The key to good southern biscuits is not to measure anything. Mix White Lily self-rising flour (if you can't get White Lily Brand use another good quality flour), cut in Crisco solid shortening until it resembles coarse meal, then add enough buttermilk to pull the dough together (but don't make it too wet). Then roll them out, cut them with a cookie cutter and bake at 350-375 degrees until golden brown.
The one on the back of the Bisquick box is pretty good.

Best to you & yours. Old Dawg.

I always add extra baking powder that makes them rise up really big. Sift the flour and baking powder try to keep it fluffy. Add other ingredients to this in a bowl and keep folding then spread the dough out on a piece of wax paper with flour on it. Now sprinkle flour on your hands this keeps the dough from sticking to your fingers. roll the dough out and take a jar or cup (with flour around the rim) and cut the biscuits out. place on greased and floured baking sheet. cook 12-15 mintues. When they are done slice about 1/4th stick of butter and rub it across the tops of the biscuits. very good
