Why is it written "May contain traces of peanuts or other kind of nuts" on peanut butter jars. Are people stup!
Answers: Your question made me laugh! You are so right! Unfortunately, there are people out in society that really are that clueless! I also agree that people will sue over anything. I mean, why should we pursue higher education right? If we are stupid enough, we can sue and make more money than those with brains! That's the way it seems to go.
yes, someone out there is stupid enough to sue if that weren't printed on the label!!!
It is because some people have a severe life threatening reaction to peanuts or nuts. It is there to warn those people not to indulge as it could kill them.
...because some people r allergic to nuts ans peanuts, so it is to them inform them.
Because if they don't and someone is allergic to let's say almonds; they can get sued.
hilarious, I love it! thanks for sharing this, it definitely belongs in one of those humorous "warning label" books.
In case you're looking for a serious answer ... I believe that this warning is a standard "boilerplate" warning that goes on everything that has nuts in regardless. Must be an FDA regulation or something.
Yep, people are stupid...and also some people may try to make lawsuits stating that there was no allergy warning on the package
My peanut butter jar doesn't have such a label. It does say beware peanut allergen. I would wonder what is in that jar if the label says traces of peanuts, there should be much more than traces. Also, peanuts are legumes not actual nuts, that's why a person who is allergic to peanuts usually can eat almonds or some other nut and have no reaction.
Some people are not allergic to peanuts, which are a legume, but are allergic to tree nuts like almonds, walnuts, and pecans. They need to be alerted another form of nut ;-) may have tainted the peanut butter. The warning is just a "cut and paste" type thing, rather than being specifically made for the jars of peanut butter. Anytime a food may contain peanuts or other nuts, you'll see this on almost all of them rather than, "May contain traces of tree nuts". Most people -- even those with allergies -- won't know exactly what a "tree nut" is.
Because there are too many sue-happy stupid people.
It's also on a jar of Planters peanuts. Go figure.
No, but people ARE litigous, so the company is protecting their a$-ets.
some people are allergic to them and they have to know if they have peanuts in it.
like if chocolate chip cookies have peanut oil in it they would have to know!
Yes.
