Recipe that involves soaking fruit in alcohol for weeks or even months?!

Question: Years ago, I knew someone who made this delicious recipe--but I can not recall what it is named or how to make it. It involved different ypes of fruit sealed in a jar for weeks at a time. There was alcohol in it, too. I seem to recall she would occassionally add to it, and that we were forbidden to open the jar until it was ready. Does anyone know what this is called or have a recipe for it? Thanks. We used to serve it over ice cream.

Hello, the only recipe that I remember from a few years back was called a Thirty Day Friendship Cake which involved with a fruit starter which you can prepare this wonderful cake or use to serve over ice cream. I have not made it in years so had use a search engine for the ingredients and directions. Remembered that you used a glass jar (large canning jar) and a wooden spoon to stir to help kept the yeast active during the fomentation period. Good luck and it is wonderful!!!
