Who has begun thier yule/christmas baking already?!
Answers: I am doing cookies today to freeze. By the time the holiday rolls around I have to have 18 different types of cookies, quick breads, homemade candies etc..... I think my family is insane but that is what we do. My mother is off with her friend making 40 pounds of lefse today to freeze for gifts and the holiday gathering of 150 that we have at Yule/Christmas.....
Oh good, I'm not the only crazy one! I have 4 batches of frozen dough balls already in the freezer, and plan on making some more later today. I like to freeze my cookies before they are baked, and then I just take a whole day & bake everything the weekend before I need them. It usually works out that all day on Saturday is cookie baking & Sunday is bread & cake baking.
I got away from doing candy a few years ago because my favorite chocolate shop closed down & I can't get the supplies that I used to. However, if I find an actual shop to play in & find all sorts of goodies, I'll start on candy again too!
Not yet. I bake hundreds of cookies and make as many candies, I start after Thanksgiving and always have my freezer full. Fun stuff!!!
Started this tradition a few years back and now everyone expect it. Hard work but fun and it's nice to be appreciated. For the entire month of December the baking takes over my kitchen entirely
I will start the day after Thanksgiving otherwise some of my candy gets scarfed up that day. I do fudge with Irish Creme, Kahlua, or brandy; spritz cookies; molasses cookies; sugar cookies - several different types/kinds and gingerbread cookies. Send some lefsa to me - I love it and haven't had any in years. :D
I'm just getting started on Thanksgiving prep, are you kidding? You are starting early, I admire that.
Sounds like such a fun tradition. Would love to do something similar, except our family isn't into having lots of sweets hanging around. I guess the holidays are perfect (you can give most of it away).
Haven't started my baking just yet. I'm going to hunt down some recipes and start the first weekend of December. My freezer is generally packed as it is, so I usually bake nearer to the day.
Every season I pick a different festive cookie from around the world and give it a try. It's fun and a good way to broaden my baking horizons.

If i had a deep freezer I'd be baking up a storm, but sadly I dont, I could use my parents deep freezer but then I chance it all getting ate up by my teenage sisters and their friends. But I've been looking at some yummy recipes! I envy those of you who can get the head start on baking. I've got to do it all at the very last possible minute so its all as fresh as possible.

I have, already knee deep and all the aprons are dirty, sink full of dishes and all the containers are full of candies.
Boy, you sure are organized! I wish I had that kind of time! I usually don't start baking until after the show that my daughter and I are in is done (usually the 1st weekend in December). This year it's a week later, so I don't know if I'll bake at all! I hope I can find the time - it's something that my daughter and I enjoy doing.

I don't do any baking until 2 weeks before Yule. Any sooner than that and you run the risk of having dried out stale goodies (no matter HOW well they're sealed and frozen until they're needed).. Stale, froaen cookies just don't seem to have that "flavor" that one would associate with Yule, unless that's ALL you've ever known, then it'd be just like old times, LOL

SUPPLIES YES, baking no..I have to get through Thanksgiving first...
and I just baked a chocolate cake for a very dear friend...that took alot out of me..lol
