What should I make with 1 1/2 pounds of beef stew meat, besides make a stew?!

Question: Cut the chunks up into smaller pieces (its easier to do when they are still partially frozen). Get a big skillet and put the pieces in it with some oil (I prefer olive) and a whole chopped up onion, some seasonings, like Italian and garlic and Cajun, and some Sofrito if you can find it (Goya, in the freezer section), balsamic vinegar and a small can of tomato sauce. Once its done and the meat is tender, and saucey, serve it over yellow rice or garlic mashed potatoes, with a side of pink beans and some corn, a salad and some crusty rolls with butter, and a glass of red wine to wash it down. Pumpkin pie for dessert with coffee or tea or warm mulled cider.

Sorry - pregnant? Skip the wine and have iced tea or maybe some fruit punch.

I like to use stew meat for a beef teriaki(not sure if that's spelled right.) I cut the cubes into strips and cook it in a pan with teriaki sauce. Then I cook some rice to go with it. It's pretty yummy. Sometimes I'll add regular green peppers to the mix. Good luck with whatever you make.

Beef Curry. Definitely. If you can, let it marinate half way thru cooking (The technique might be called "Bunjab"?). I've no idea how to make it tho. My wife is the curry making expert. I'm the curry eating expert. :-)

Shredded beef for enchilada fillings or to use in mexican casserole. Brown your meat in 1/4 C water, then add a mix of 3 C water, 1 beef bouillon cube, 1/4 C vinegar, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tbsp chili powder. Bring this to a boil and cook until beef is tender or pressure cook for 40 mins. Shred by pulling apart with 2 forks.

i found what's really good is if you saute it in olive oil with mushrooms and yellow bell peppers and a teaspoon full of steak seasoning

tacos.

or chili
it would make really good chili

Just remember that stew meat needs to cook a simmer slowly for a while to become tender. it is not tender when cooked and eaten right away.

I cooked beef tips today with my stew meat. Get a pan ready with a small layer of oil. Heat. Flour your beef tips in seasoned flour and sear them in the oil. Transfer them to a slow cooker and then make a gravy with the little bit of opil remaining in the pan. Add the gravy to the meat and enough beef or chicken broth to dilute to the consistency you want. Let these simmer for about four hours or so. I add sour cream to mine and serve over rice!

Grilled Caesar Beef Appetizer Kabobs

1 pound beef boneless sirloin steak, 3/4 to 1 inch thick, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium yellow or green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup 1-inch pieces pattypan or yellow summer squash
1 1/2 cups whole mushrooms
1 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup Caesar dressing
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
30 wooden skewers (6 to 8 inches)
Romaine leaves
Additional Caesar dressing, if desired
Chopped fresh chives, if desired

1. In large resealable food-storage plastic bag, place beef, bell pepper, squash, mushrooms and tomatoes. Mix 1/2 cup dressing and the ground pepper. Pour over beef and vegetables; seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate at least 1 hour but no longer than 4 hours, turning bag occasionally. Soak skewers in water about 1 hour to prevent burning.

2. Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat. Remove beef and vegetables from marinade; discard marinade. Remove skewers from water. Thread 1 or 2 pieces beef on each skewer. Add a mushroom, squash, bell pepper piece or tomato to end of each skewer.

3. Cover and grill kabobs 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 6 to 8 minutes for medium beef doneness, turning frequently.

4. Arrange romaine on serving platter. Top with kabobs. Spoon additional dressing into small bowl for dipping; sprinkle with chives.

Italian Beef Kabobs (Cooking for 2)

1 beef bone-in sirloin or round steak, 3/4 pound, 1 inch thick
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano leaves or 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh marjoram leaves or 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
1 teaspoon sugar

1. Remove fat from beef. Cut beef into 1-inch pieces.

2. Mix remaining ingredients in medium glass or plastic bowl. Stir in beef until coated. Cover and refrigerate, stirring occasionally, at least 1 hour but no longer than 12 hours.

3. Set oven control to broil. Remove beef from marinade; reserve marinade. Thread beef on each of four 10-inch metal skewers, leaving 1/2-inch space between each piece. Brush kabobs with marinade.

4. Place kabobs on rack in broiler pan. Broil kabobs with tops about 3 inches from heat 6 to 8 minutes for medium-rare to medium doneness, turning and brushing with marinade after 3 minutes. Discard any remaining marinade.

You could make a chinese dish with it. Pan fried veggies and rice mixed with the cooked meat....add soy sauce, garlic powder, red pepper and ginger to flavor. I make this same mixture with chicken or beef....but with chicken, I add a can of pineapple, with the juice.Comes out great...don't overdo the red pepper powder, or it will be too spicy.

stir fry
