Is there a difference between porcini and portobello?!

Question: tastewise? If so, which are they, and is there a special way to cook either?

Porcini
Porcini mushrooms are well valued for their meaty texture, interesting flavor, and distinguishing shape. These mushrooms vary in size and is domestically grown or imported from Europe depending on the season. This variety is usually expensive, but is considered one of the finest-tasting mushrooms.

Portobello
These are large cremini-like mushrooms that are sometimes the size of a regular hamburger! These fungi are circular, flat, and long, with a dense, chewy texture. Portobellos are excellent for grilling or roasting.

hope this helps. enjoy.

try grilling or roasting! portobella's are a more hearty thick mushroom and great on a sandwich, skewered, etc.

portebello is better grilled with a sort of garlic butter/parsley drizzled on the inside.... you cook it upside down....so that the butter mix stays in it... simple and very nice

porcini is a baby potrabella.

size. Portobellos are overgrown porcnini's.

wud love to help but i am allergic to mushrooms!dont no wat they taste like..

The longer you cook the portobello the meatier (firmer textured) the mushroom gets it is usually seasoned and eaten with any foods you want i suppose........porcini on the other hand is generally used for sauces and risotto ....the portobello has more of the umbrella typical mushroom shape while the porcini is not as clean cut and is sometimes served dried
